Discover Sydney: Your Ultimate Checklist for an Amazing Trip

If you want this year to be the year of amazing travel destinations, you have to put Sydney on the list.

Sydney is one of those cities that beckons everyone as it has a lot to offer, from its natural beauty to urban sophistication.

Sydney is more than a destination; it’s an experience you’ll cherish forever.

See the Iconic Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of Sydney’s iconic landmarks. It has to be among the top five things to visit during your first stay in Sydney. You can get up close and personal by climbing a bridge. You’ve read it right – you can climb the bridge and get an amazing adrenaline rush from the activity and the breathtaking view. Since this activity is more for thrill seekers, you can see the bridge from different perspectives – from the Opera House or a boat tour.

Explore the Rocks

Put the Rocks on your itinerary if you want to stroll around Sydney’s most popular neighbourhoods. It is considered an iconic neighbourhood as it’s also one with the most history. Cafes populate it, as coffee is one of the most popular drinks in Sydney. You’ll also come across a number of small shops, some of the oldest pubs, and great restaurants.

If visiting the Rocks is your plan for the weekend, you’ll be there just in time for the open-air market. This is probably the most interesting time to visit as you’ll get to browse and buy homemade crafts, food and artisan products.

Have fun at the top

Sydney: great rooftop bars!

Sydney is not just about beaches, amazing parks and great monuments, it’s also about having fun at the top. If you want to experience the view from rooftop bars, picking just one rooftop bar for the evening will be hard. One evening, you can have a few drinks at Old Mate’s Place; the next evening at the Zephyr Bar and the Sky Bar. Make sure to ask locals about their favourite recommendations, and maybe you’ll stumble upon a great but hidden rooftop bar.

Go on at least one guided tour a day

Sydney is simply too big to explore on your own throughout your stay. That’s why you can combine solo exploring with planned tours. You can take walking tours and explore the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. For example, one day in Sydney can look like this – you can go on a food and street art walking tour in the evening and end the night with a bar hopping tour. If you’re still not worn out by all the walking, you can finish the night at Liaisons and return to your accommodation.

Enjoy a harbour cruise

A harbour cruise will allow you to view Sydney from a different perspective. During these cruises, you’ll also view the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge but from a completely different perspective. There’s a variety of choices, from a relaxing ferry ride to a  luxury cruise, depending on your budget and style.

Take a day trip to the Blue Mountains

Sydney offers some great opportunities to slow down a bit and get off the grid by spending time in nature. Especially if you’ve had a bit too much of urban fun over the previous days, a day at the Blue Mountains will be like a perfect getaway.

The best thing about this destination is that it’s just a short drive from Sydney.  Once you reach your destination, you’ll be swiftly captivated by the rugged beauty of the Blue Mountains. It’s best to take a guided tour and explore deep valleys, ancient forests, and the iconic Three Sisters rock formation.

Up close and personal with Australian wildlife

Taronga experience is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience as you’ll be up close and personal with Australian wildlife. This is not just a zoo, as you can interact with animals and take a look at the city from another angle. You can even spend the night at the zoo as it also offers accommodation overlooking trees with sleepy koalas.

We’ve shared a list of activities to ensure an amazing stay in Sydney. You’ll quickly conclude that Sydney is more than a destination, and you’ll quickly get captivated by its allure and one-of-a-kind spirit.
