O’Reilly’s and Lamington National Park via Canungra: Gold Coast Accommodation

If it is history and nature you are looking to explore this is the route for you. Start from Surfers Paradise and follow the signs, you can’t get lost every part is quite well marked. It is a beautiful scenic route as you drive past rivers and wineries. Take the time to explore Canungra, a quaint rural town with several pleasant cafes and a large Tudor style pub. After you have finished sightseeing you can continue your drive all the way to Lamington National Park. You will see the sign for O’Reilly’s which is a guest house located at the top of the mountains in the national park. When you get there you can spend the night, go on some of the bushwalks, or just rest and enjoy the nature and fresh air.

Currumbin Valley to Murwillumbah – Round Trip

This is a nice drive that will take you to the Springbrook National Park which boasts stunning nature and idyllic scenery. You have to make a stop at Currumbin Rock Pool, it is a great photo op and you could read up on all the local stories about the pool itself. Some claim that it is bottomless while others are certain it is full of underwater caverns. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the rich artistic side of Murwillumbah, the views in this area are so inspiring that you will have plenty to see at the Tweed River Art Gallery. After a great cup of coffee, you are ready to bring this memorable drive to an end with a slow drive back.

Jimbour House

This is one of the longer drives so it would be wise to prepare a bit before heading out. Prior to your departure make sure you have your car checked out, it is best to have the fluids checked and tires replaced before you set off. Of course, if you are in a rush and don’t have time to take your car to a mechanic, have a mobile mechanic from the Gold Coast area come to your home and give your car a once-over before you set out towards the Jimbour House. This drive is a treat for all historic lovers. Built in 1876, as a private residence for a grazier, it still remains a private home and one of the nation’s most gracious historical homes.

Southern Beaches to Point Danger

This Gold Coast drive takes you by the ocean and ends at one of the most stunning lookouts in Australia. Located right on the border between Queensland and New South Wales, Point Danger is a great place to explore Australian history, enjoy stunning ocean views and even have the opportunity to see some whales. You can spend half of the day exploring this great location. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit and beach equipment because as you drive down to Point Danger you will pass numerous stunning beaches and a quick swim break is not to be missed.

Springbrook Mountain

If you are looking for a change of scenery this is the Gold Coast drive for you. Springbrook Mountain offers stunning waterfalls surrounded by lush rainforest full of ancient trees along with some truly impressive views. Along the way, there are many opportunities to stop and marvel at some of the numerous lookouts with panoramic views or have a cup of coffee and some refreshments at quaint little cafes. When you arrive, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the forest and choose one of the nine different walks available there. Nature and wildlife you will encounter there are truly breathtaking.

There five scenic drives down the Gold Coast are sure to be memorable, with so many places to visit and natural beauties to explore it is best to get going straight away.
