Marriott Integrates Facebook Messenger Into Its Tours and Activities Offering
When it comes to promoting its own inventory of thousands of travel experiences, Marriott appears to be taking a page out of Airbnb’s book. The company Wednesday announced it is adding expert recommendations, more specialized categories, and a new Facebook Messenger integration with its recently launched Marriott Moments marketplace — similar features that were previously adopted by Airbnb when the home sharing giant expanded its business into tours and activities nearly two years ago.

As the world waits to see if U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong-Un actually meet, investors hoping to profit from peace on the Korean peninsula could learn lessons from Myanmar. The Southeast Asian nation became a significant drawcard for foreign investors when it began reforming its economy in 2011 after decades of military rule, said Cyril Cabanes, head of Asia Pacific infrastructure transactions at Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, Canada’s second-biggest pension-fund manager.

Several once-stingy airlines now make more reasonably-priced free seats available to loyalty program members than a few years ago, perhaps to satisfy credit card companies who spend billions of dollars annually buying points for their best customers, according to a new study. Worldwide, American Airlines showed the biggest jump in the annual CarTrawler Reward Seat Availability Survey, offering cheap reward seats on roughly 82 percent of flights, an increase of 27.8 points, year-over year. Other major gainers include Turkish Airlines (up 15.7 points to 95 percent) and United Airlines (up 10.7 points to 75.7 precent.)
